Script to cut, in one production

  1. 01

    Script

Write in the script editor. Scenes become sections, and the Cast panel matches every character to your Universe.

  2. 02

    Shotlist

Break each scene into shots and mark every one as filmed on set or generated.

  3. 03

    Shoot

Generate takes with your characters and locations attached, or log the footage you filmed. Pick a hero take per shot.

  4. 04

    Edit

Lay the takes out on the timeline with voice, music, captions and Motion titles.

  5. 05

    Deliver

Export the film, send it for review, or share it to Studio. Export FCP 7 XML if you finish in Premiere or Resolve.

Questions filmmakers ask

Will my characters look the same from shot to shot?

Add each character, location and prop to your Universe once, with reference images or a generated character sheet. Mention it by name in a prompt and Splice attaches those references to the generation. Models still vary between takes, so generate a few and keep the hero take; it is far steadier than prompting from scratch every time.

Can I mix footage I shot with generated shots?

Yes, that is what the shotlist is for. Upload your footage or import it from a link, mark which shots are live action, and generate the rest to match. They cut together on the same timeline.

How long can a film be?

A single generated clip is a few seconds to around fifteen, depending on the model. A film is many shots, so the length is up to you: plan the shots, generate or film each one, and assemble them on the timeline.

Can I finish in my own editor?

Yes. Download any shot, or export the cut as FCP 7 XML and open it in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.

Who owns what I make?

You do. Everything you generate and upload stays in your productions, and you decide what to publish or share.

What does it cost?

You pay per generation in credits; there is no subscription, and credits don’t expire. Every model shows its price on the Generate button before you run it. New accounts get 100 free credits to start.
